Why Marketing Doesn’t Need to Be Complicated

Spend five minutes scrolling through LinkedIn or Instagram and you’ll probably come away thinking marketing has become incredibly complicated.

There’s always a new platform to master, another AI tool you apparently can’t live without, or a new strategy that’s guaranteed to transform your business overnight.

The truth is, good marketing hasn’t really changed.

At its core, marketing is simply about helping the right people understand who you are, what you do and why they should choose you.

Too often, businesses try to do everything at once.

They create social media accounts on every platform, run advertising before their website is ready, send emails without a clear purpose or post content simply because they feel they should.

The result is usually lots of activity but very little progress.

The businesses that see the best results tend to do a few things really well.

They know exactly who they’re trying to reach.

They have a clear message that explains how they can help.

Their website makes it easy for people to understand their services and get in touch.

Their marketing is consistent rather than sporadic.

Most importantly, every piece of marketing has a purpose.

Whenever I’m planning marketing with a client, I always come back to three simple questions.

Who are we talking to?

What do they need to know?

What do we want them to do next?

If you can answer those questions, you’re already ahead of many businesses.

That’s why I like to keep marketing simple.

Rather than chasing every new trend, I’d rather focus on building a strategy that fits your business, your budget and your customers.

Because complicated marketing doesn’t necessarily get better results.

Clear marketing usually does.
